Course Objectives

At the completion of this course, students will be able to
・Understand and use basic vocabulary and grammar necessary for communication activities.
・Understand information and the writer's intentions, and grasp the outline and main points of English.
・Use English to write and speak about information and ideas obtained from listening and reading.
・Pronounce English with paying attention to its phonetic features, and read and recite coherent sentences aloud.
・Understand information and the speaker's intentions, and grasp the outline and main points.

Teaching Method

Outline:
Students will develop the basic ability to understand what they hear and read about everyday topics, and to communicate information and ideas by speaking and writing in English.

Lectures and exercises
Notice:
・Students are required to bring their textbooks, notebooks, and English-Japanese dictionaries.
・Students have to take the TOEIC Bridge test.
・The class plan may be changed according to the students' level of understanding.
・Credit will be granted with an evaluation score of 50 or higher.
 If the score is lower than 50, the student may take an examination to make up the credit upon request. If credit is approved as a result of a make-up examination, the evaluation score will be 50.
