Course Objectives

・Understand basic vocabulary and grammar necessary for communicative activities and be able to use them in practice. (Vocabulary and Grammar)
・Understand and outline information and the writer's intentions when reading English texts. (Reading Comprehension)
・Be able to write in English about information and their own thoughts obtained through listening and reading. (Expression)
・Be able to pronounce English with attention to its phonetic features, and read aloud and recite coherent sentences. (Pronunciation and oral reading)
・Be able to listen to English and understand information and the speaker's intentions, and grasp the gist and main points of a text. (Listening comprehension)

Teaching Method

Outline:
The aim of this course is to develop basic communication skills, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing in English about information and ideas on familiar topics.

Lectures and exercises
Notice:
・Students must bring signed textbooks, dictionaries, handouts and other materials for the class.
・Students are expected to participate in class activities (including presentation activities).
・Students are expected to independently review what they have learned in class.
・Students have to keep the handouts handed out in class bound.
・Submissions should be prepared according to the format and submitted on time. Also, write neatly and carefully.
・Students must take the TOEIC Bridge examination.
・The lesson plan is subject to change according to the level of student understanding.
* Credit will be granted with an evaluation score of 50 or higher.
If the score is lower than 50, the student may take an examination to make up the credit upon request.
If credit is approved as a result of a make-up examination, the evaluation score will be 50.
