In this class, students will continue to read simple science related articles in English with a wide range of topics including medicine, chemistry, biology, and physics. They will develop critical thinking skills in English, with a strong emphasis on sharing and writing opinions, and further they will learn how to define (English) words in English, rather than translating them into Japanese. Students are required to prepare, study, and participate actively in this class. They will also study basic TOEIC L&R to familiarize themselves with the exam format with the aim of TOEIC scores, 300-350.

教育方法等
概要:
In this class, students will continue to read science related articles and familiarize themselves with discussing given topics in English. They will learn how to define (English) words in English, rather than translating them into Japanese. Furthermore, students will study basic TOEIC L&R to familiarize themselves with the exam format. This course helps students prepare for TOEIC English placement tests, future work and higher educations. An English dictionary will be needed for the class.
授業の進め方・方法:
Classes will be conducted primarily in English with a focus on the textbooks. Prior to a class, students are responsible for reading and understanding basic English expressions and sentences. Homework or word tests will be assigned in this course. During the class, they are required to discuss the topic and share their opinions. In addition, TOEIC exercises including business terminology and situations will be introduced in this course. The coursework will be graded based on: the final exam (70%) and Homework/mini tests/participation (30%). The attendance will be considered as a part of the grading plan.
注意点:
Before classes: Read textbook out loud and write down the points of contents in English.
During classes: Active participation is important.
After classes: Review what you have learned and explore other aspects of the class..
