到達目標
Students will familiarize themselves with basic Science and Technology (S&T) in English. They will learn English writing styles and terminologies (CV, e-mail, and short abstract). Ultimately, students will be able to present basic S&T materials in English in the final stage of the course. The course will also cover the basic grammar to be learnt during the past 6 years in their English education. The course will additionally focus on the TOEIC exam preparation. We expect students to obtain 400 points and above by the end of summer quarter.

概要:
【開講学期】春学期週2時間、夏学期週2時間
Students will familiarize themselves with basic Science and Technology in English. They will learn contents and writing styles including structure, grammar, and terminology. Students will be asked to scientific presentations in English in the final stage of the course. Ultimately, this course helps students prepare for English Placement tests (such as TOEIC), future jobs and higher education.
授業の進め方・方法:
Classes will be conducted primarily in English with a focus on the textbook. Additionally, students will read and discuss science and technology materials in English. Finally, students will be assigned to present scientific materials. The evaluation consists of the followings: 70% of examinations (spring and summer) and 30% of homework/short tests and attitude during the class. The score over 60 points out of 100 points (total score) will be valued as a passing grade.
注意点:
Before classes: Read textbook out loud until you feel familiar/comfortable with contents. During classes: Active participation is important. After classes: Review what you have learned and explore further.
この科目は年度内にTOEICスコア400点を習得していない者は、最大で59点と評価し、不合格とする。ただし、グローバル ラーニングセンター(GLC)での研修を受講することで、再評価を行う。TOEICスコア400点を習得していない者で、GLCの研修における試験に合格しない場合は、学年末の課程修了認定において審議の対象となる。
