This class's objective is to introduce students to English critical thinking, with a strong emphasis on sharing and writing opinions. Students are required to join discussions on various subjects. Students are also required to improve reading skills by extensive reading.

教育方法等
概要:
この授業では、多読学習を通じて情報を素早く正確に読み取る力を育成し、様々なトピックに関して自らの意見を考える習慣付を目的とする。また、重要な文法事項をカバーし情報を正確に理解かつ発信する力を育成することを目的とする。
授業の進め方・方法:
授業では、参考書ATLAS、ATLASに基づいた問題集を用いて文法項目について体系的に学習する。多読学習を行う。授業1回ないし2回につきTOPICを提示し自らの考えを80-100語の英文にまとめる。
注意点:
読書と聞くと受動的な学習と思うかもしれないが、「これは何か？」「次はどうか？」という問題意識を持ちながら主体的に読むというActive readingという姿勢を身に着けてほしい。英語だけに限らず、これからの生涯を通じた学習姿勢として非常に有益なスキルである。
