In this class, students will read simple science related articles in English with a wide range of topics including medicine, chemistry, biology, and physics. They will develop critical thinking skills, with a strong emphasis on sharing and writing opinions in English. Students are required to prepare, study, and participate actively in this class. Please bring an English-Japanese or English-English dictionary to the class. Students will also study basic TOEIC L&R to familiarize themselves with the exam format with the aim of TOEIC scores, 300-350.

教育方法等
概要:
Students will familiarize themselves with discussing given topics in English. They will comprehend reading materials and be asked to provide their opinions in English. In addition, this course helps students prepare for TOEIC English Placement tests for future work and higher education.
授業の進め方・方法:
The class will be divided into two groups (A and B). A group will use the Science Curiosity (SC) textbook while B group will study TOEIC for three weeks and vice versa, alternately. Lessons will be conducted primarily in English with a focus on the textbooks. Prior to a class, students are responsible for reading and understanding basic English expressions and sentences. During the class, they are required to discuss the topic and share their opinions. In addition, TOEIC exercises and online program will be introduced in this course. The coursework will be graded based on: Exams (midterm and final: 70%)and Homework/mini tests/participation (30%). The attendance will be considered as a part of the grading plan.
注意点:
Before classes: Read textbook out loud until you feel familiar/comfortable with contents. During classes: Active participation is important. After classes: Review what you have learned and explore further.
