Teaching Method

Outline:
The purpose of this subject is to learn contents in biochemistry through experiments and to be able to operate measurement instruments. The themes of the experiment are as follows; “Lowry method”, “Enzyme kinetics with β-galactosidase”, “Determination of pKa of amino acids”, and “Alcohol fermentation and
quantification of glucose”
Style:
1) Lecture and experiments
2) Themes are as follows (type A and B)
A) Antibacterial activity test by paper disk method: all at once-experiment
B) Lowry method, enzyme kinetics with β-galactosidase, determination of pKa of amino acids, alcohol fermentation and quantification of glucose: Two experiments for all themes by 4 groups of 8 or 9 students.
Notice:
Failure is no problem, and failure teaches success.
If you fail, try an experiment again in no time.
