Course Objectives

1. To develop strategies and methods to improve English communication through targeted speaking activities.

4. To increase vocabulary, word chunks and useful expressions.
5. To improve reading, writing and listening skills (to lesser degree) through targeted activities in the textbook.

Teaching Method

Outline:
Introduction of useful vocabulary and expressions including word chunks to conduct basic conversations in English on a variety of targeted Topics and Issues. Targeted speaking and presentation activities will be conducted in conjunction with the contents of the textbook. The textbook has a Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) component that students will be required to do.
Style:
Teacher-student lecture form, pair-work, group-work, task-based learning, group-based learning.
Notice:
Assignments must be turned in by the specified deadline (if any). Students not present in class should inform the teacher. Make up exams or missed deadlines should be discussed with the teacher. This syllabus is subject to change.
