To acquire the reading ability to read the English mannual of machines which is necessary to be an engineer, and also to acquire the communication competence in English which is necessary for the job in an engine room.

概要:
1) 2 hours a week, 1 unit for a semester
2) Practice for the examination for a maritime engineer and practice of English conversation
授業の進め方・方法:
【Instructor: Woods, David (Part-time Teaching Staff)】
Classes will begin with a short quiz based on the previous week's vocabulary, grammar, and any incidental points covered in class, and homework assigmenments will be fastidiously checked. Approximately half the class will focus on the practice of technical translation, and the other half on spoken English.
注意点:
Since there will be weekly quizzes, review at home will be absolutely necessary. Portfolio (ポートフォリオ) score refers to homework and will be strictly checked and recorded using the following criteria:
All homework is completed on time: 20%
Homework is forgotten 1 or 2 times: 16%
Homework is forgotten 3 or 4 times: 12%
Homework is forgotten 5 times: 8%
Homework is forgotten more than 5 times: 4%
Students who are absent from class will be given a reasonable amount of time to turn in their completed homework and not be penalized. After that, it will NOT be accepted.
