国際海事機関（IMO）の作成によるSTCW条約に基づく標準海事通信⽤語（Standard Marine Communication Phrases, SMCP）を理解し、活用できる。
船舶職員として必要とされる最低限の英語を使うことができる。

教育方法等
概要:
1 週１回２時間、１単位の半期授業である。
2 授業は、国家試験の問題演習とTOEIC対策を同一時間で行なう。
授業の進め方・方法:
1 海技士、一海特、三海通などの英語試験問題の過去問から問題を選び、演習形式で授業を行なう。まずは、自力で時間内に解答し終えることを目指す。
2 TOEICについては、リスニング、リーディングとも基礎的な解法ポイントを理解し、まずは、400点を目指す。
注意点:
1 『1・2級海技士 はじめての英語指南書』（海文堂）を指示に従って解答し、提出する。
2 辞書は『WISDOM英和辞典』（三省堂）を推奨する。
3 ポートフォリオにはプリント提出、小テスト（単語テストなど）が含まれる。
