到達目標
Students should know basic grammar forms like the present simple, past simple, present continuous, past continuous, second conditional and future ( "will" and "going to"), and in this class students will use these basic forms and basic English sentences to express what they want to say in a variety of real-world situations. Students will also work on being able to speak about a certain topic they are interested in with short speeches, and will practice by both giving short speeches on a variety of topics, as well as listening to talks about topics like inventions or the modern economy. Students will be able to speak for an extended period of time and express their thoughts and opinions on a topic, as well as be able to respond to questions in practical situations they may experience while traveling for either work or pleasure. Additional preparation will include some short readings to build vocabulary and help students structure their expressions logically and naturally.

| 理想的な到達レベルの目安 | 標準的な到達レベルの目安 | 未到達レベルの目安 |
評価項目1 | The ideal level of achievement would be for students to acquire enough vocabulary, phrases, and other expressions to visit an English-speaking country and express themselves confidently, as well as responding to questions and being able to listen for important information. | A standard level of achievement would be for students to be able to generally express themselves and understand what they hear, but sometimes are not able to understand what they hear. | An unacceptable level of achievement would be for students to be unable to express themselves in full sentences and with appropriate vocabulary, but use single words or be unable to express a thing or concept in English. |
評価項目2 | A second evaluation point is whether students have mastered the general grammar forms referred to in the Course Goals, and can use them in both statements and questions. | The standard level would be for students to make some mistakes, but generally understand the grammar forms, and are able to use them in most situations. | An unacceptable level would be that students make many mistakes using the basic grammatical forms and are unable to use them to make questions or respond to questions. |
評価項目3 | A third evaluation point is whether students are able to listen for specific information from authentic, real-life listening selections. Students will be evaluated on whether they can accurately find and remember information while listening. | The standard level would be that students can listen for most information, but sometimes cannot understand or find important information. | An unacceptable level would be that students cannot understand any of the information in a listening task. |

教育方法等
概要:
This class will focus on basic English conversation in the real world, as well as expressing yourself in units larger than single words and sentences. Students will learn and practice useful expressions while presenting their thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics, while providing chances for students to listen to authentic native English through listening and reading tasks. General, colloquial English will be the focus of the course, but students will also be exposed to other forms of English they are likely to experience.
授業の進め方・方法:
There will be tests, readings, listening tasks, and short quizzes in addition to using the textbook to practice speaking and listening in specific situations. Longer listening tasks will be divided into smaller sections and reviewed in class, so that students can check their comprehension in real time. Students are encouraged to speak as much as possible.
注意点:
Students are expected to review after class, and speak in full English sentences in class as often as possible. The more you use English, the better your English will become, even if you make mistakes sometimes. Class participation is included in the grade for this course, so students should use the English they have learned as much as possible.
