Specifically, each week students will engage in a lottery of topic selection based on TOEFL data, will spend 5 minutes brainstorming their topics and creating free-form rough outlines of their ideas, will spend the next 5 minutes researching their topics, and the final 5 minutes rehearsing their speeches. After this 15 minute time period, students will take turns coming to the front of the classroom to give their speeches with their classmates and the teacher as audience members. Each speech will be no longer than 5 minutes. Students will also practice and engage in three speech contests in which their skill in persuasive, motivational, and informative oratory competence will be improved.
