1. To further improve ability at self-selecting English speech topics;
2. To further improve ability to write English speeches;
3. To further improve ability to write English essays;
4. And, to further improve English oral commination ability by improving ability to say English speeches during which students will be provided instruction regarding oral communication skills such as pausing, eye-contact, hand-gestures, intonation, pronunciation, and enunciation.
概要:
Students build upon previous coursework to further improve their English speech writing and English oral communication skill by learning to develop topics into English speeches and by saying English speeches. Specifically, working in groups, each week students will spend the first-half of each class session writing fourth-level modified impromptu speeches. During the second-half of each class session, groups of students will say their fully developed speeches with the teacher and classmates serving as the audience. During the speeches, students will be instructed on advanced oral communication skills such as proper modulation and proper use of emotion. Students will also further develop their English essay writing ability by learning how to write (and writing) descriptive and argumentative essays.

The objectives of this course are to help students develop more advanced cognitive and practical experience creating more detailed English speech outlines, to improve their English oral communication skill, and to further improve their English essay writing ability.
<到達目標の評価方法と基準>
Students’ ability to write English essays will be evenly evaluated through the use of two exams (a midterm exam and a final exam). Students will have attained the goals provided that they have earned 60% of the total points possible for this course. Because it is impossible to give paper exams that measure students’ English oral communication ability, the two exams will only cover students’ ability to write English essays.
