Course Objectives

(1) The goal is to master the pronunciation of Chinese language, to learn to apply basic vocabulary and grammar rules, and to develop conversational skills and reading comprehension.
(2) The goal is to be able to express things around them, such as greetings and daily conversations, in practical Chinese, and to communicate in simple Chinese.
(3) The goals is to gain a deeper understanding of the Chinese way of thinking, lifestyle, and culture.

Outline:
It's said that pronunciation is the key to studying foreign languages. Chinese is no exception. In this class, we aim to achieve a balanced level of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning pronunciation carefully and taking time improving it. We will also deepen our understanding of the different cultures so that we can communicate more smoothly, while touching on the Chinese society and culture.

"(1) Pre-study and learn the learning points before attending classes.
(2) Actively participate in class.
(3) Work hard on vocal and conversational practice.
(4) Ask questions that arise during the pre-study or that you do not understand during classes.

1st Pronunciation 1, 2, 3 Learn tone, simple vowels, and consonants.
2nd Pronunciation 4, 5 Learn about the compound vowels and nasal vowels.
3rd Lesson 1: 你是日本人吗? Learn personal pronouns, how to ask names, and verb-predicate sentences.
4th Lesson 1: Grammar summary Learn Practice I and II.
5th Lesson 2: 你学什么? Learn how to use 的, the adverb 也, and the interrogative 什么.
6th Lesson 2: Grammar summary Learn Practice I and II.
7th Lesson 3: 你 你最近怎么样? Learn adjective-predicate sentences, 刚 + verb, and the adverb 都.
8th Review and midterm test
