Assigned Department Objectives
Teaching Method
Outline:
Students learn the drawing method, design method of simple structures, and usage of 3D CAD software. Students acquire knowledge regarding design, drawing, and 3D models of infrastructures through practical design and creating 3D models of structures. Students propose a plan, design, create 3D models, and give a presentation to resolve given challenges. As a result, it is expected that students deepen their understanding of design, drawing, and how to use 3D CAD software, and acquire presentation skills. The tutor of this subject has an experience as an engineer of bridge fabricator. He engaged in the design of steel bridges and steel structures. He conducts a class concerning design calculation of simple structures and creating procedures of the 3D model using 3D CAD software based on his experiences.
Style:
The design method of a simple structure and the operation procedure of 3D CAD software are explained in a lecture style. After that, each student conducts design calculations, drawing, and creating 3D models using 3D CAD software under the given condition. As group work, students devise teaching materials to introduce the appeal of civil engineering through making things by hand and experiments for elementary and junior high school students, and students create 3D models and animations with 3D CAD software. In addition, students give a presentation regarding unique selling points, usage examples, etc. of devised teaching materials by dividing some groups.
Notice:
Students should have an interest in the infrastructure around us. In addition, students should organize differences by comparing the impression before entering the college with one after entering it. Moreover, students should find out more than one appeal of civil engineering. This subject has content the summation of learning time guaranteed in class and standard self-learning time including required time for conducting preparation, review, and assignment corresponds to 90 hours.
Students who miss 1/4 or more of classes will not be eligible for evaluation.
