Assigned Department Objectives

Teaching Method

Outline:
In this course, students will learn the concepts, theories and methods of social infrastructure management, and as engineers, pursue to acquire the basic way of thinking and the basic knowledge of social infrastructure management. In addition, students will understand the basic and applied techniques and methods of construction for construction work, and they will learn about environmental considerations and operational management (Takeda will teach 11.5 hours). Furthermore, they will learn about methods of construction using construction machineries, along with earthwork planning, such as soil allocation, and types of construction equipment.
Style:
Lectures will be held by two instructors in omnibus format.
Takeda will hold lectures from weeks 1 to 4, and from weeks 8 to 15, on the concepts, theories and methods of social infrastructure management, and the construction control techniques of social infrastructure structures. There will also be on-site visits and lectures by someone with practical experience, as appropriate.
Eguchi will hold lectures from weeks 5 to 6, on construction machinery such as earthwork planning.
The overall evaluation will be based on 50% on the periodic exam, 40% on reports, and 10% on attitude toward class activities. The minimum score for a pass will be 60%.
Notice:
Pay attention in class, and take notes well. This course's content will amount to 90 hours of study in total. These hours include the learning time guaranteed in classes and the standard self-study time required for pre-study / review, and completing assignment reports.
Students who miss 1/3 or more of classes will not be eligible for evaluation.
