Course Objectives

(1) To became able to imagine and explain architectural forms and the structure of space.
(2) To understand the meaning of concept or design purpose in architectural design, and to explain architectural forms.
(3) To be able to develop ideas freely, untied to preconceptions or prejudice.
(4)To understand the characteristics of drafting tools and how and use them.
(5) To be able to draw architectural drawings by hand using different types of lines (about 3 types).
(6)To understand measurement units and scale and reflect it in the drawing.
(7)To understand the meaning of text information and the dimensions in an architectural drawing and be able to use it.
(8) To understand the principles of the layout of a drawing, and to be able to well balanced arrange diagrams, pictures, and text information of a drawing.
(9)To produce a three-dimensional representation of a building by using orthographic projection, parallel projection drawing, and one-point perspective views.
(10)To be able to draw architectural drawings beautifully and with precision.
(11)To be able to use architectural drawings information to execute three-dimensional models (architectural model).

Assigned Department Objectives

Teaching Method

Outline:
In Architectural Design Studio I the students acquire the skills necessary for architectural design. This course aims to train the students to think freely, to learn the basic knowledge of design, and to design architecture according to the specified condition. The students will understand the drafting rules for architecture, and how to draw lines by hand, the concept of scale and measurement units how to use text information. The student will be able to express his design ideas through drawing.
Style:
Learn to draft and to design through the execution of assignments. The student will be able to express his design ideas through drawing. Two instructors and technical staff carry the classes.
Notice:
Submit a pre-assignment (summer vacation homework).
This course requires 90 hours of self-study time. The students are required to secure sufficient time for the production of each assignment and respect the submission deadline. Students attendance is required, and only a maximum of 4 absences is excused.
