Course Objectives

Learning purposes :
The goal of this course is to develop listening and speaking skills so that students can live their lives at the school without problems. Students will also learn Kanji as necessary. We also aim to deepen students' understanding of Japanese culture and manners.

Course Objectives :
1. Be able to listen to elementary and intermediate level Japanese.
2. Students will be able to use Japanese without fear of making mistakes.
3. Be able to communicate with people around you in Japanese.
4. Be able to read and write kanji at the elementary school level.

Course outline : This course is designed for first-year international students in their first year of study in Japan. This course fosters the listening and speaking skills necessary to develop Japanese communication skills that are useful for living in Japan. Through the class, students will deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and manners, and develop an attitude of communicating in Japanese without fear of making mistakes.
Style:
Course method : Students will work together to improve their vocabulary and expression skills by solving textbook problems and providing explanations. In addition, the teacher prepares materials and exchanges opinions on the topics of the materials to develop the students' ability to speak in Japanese and listen to others.
From the second semester, students will practice presentations in Japanese.
Grade evaluation method : The results of the first and second semester exams (80%), MINI test of Kanji (10%), and attendance (10%) will determine the overall evaluation.
A score of 60 or more is considered a passing grade, and the student will be required to retake the exam if necessary.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment : Students must take this class (no more than one-third of the required number of class hours missed) in order to complete the 1st year course.
Course advice : Students should study up to Lesson 30 of "Minna no Nihongo ShokyuⅡ(2nd Edition)" in advance and understand the contents of the study. There is a lot to learn, so students should prepare and review every day. We also want students to have an interest in the Japanese language and culture.
Foundational subjects : Japanese language courses taken in my home country and training to prepare for study abroad.
Related subjects : Japanese language Ⅰ(1st year), Japanese writing(1st year), Japanese and Japanese culture (1st year), Japanese language Ⅱ(2nd year), Japanese conversation and listening Ⅱ (2nd year), Japanese language Ⅲ(3rd year)
Attendance advice : If students are late for the start of class, they will be counted as tardy for up to 20 minutes. After that, the student will be marked absent. Actively participate in class and submit assignments on time. Try to look up vocabulary you don't understand. Textbooks and course content may be changed depending on the status of students.
