Course Objectives

Learning purposes :
Learn about Japanese society and culture and deepen your understanding of it so that you can blend in with the Japanese community and make the most of your time at the school.
Cultivate the ability to research the topic, organize the information gathered, and give a presentation in Japanese.

Course outline : This is an intensive class for first-year international students. Students will learn about Japanese culture and manners so that they will be able to live and study in Japan smoothly in the future. Students will also deepen their understanding of Okayama Prefecture and Tsuyama City. One of the goals is to make use of what they learn in class and in their daily lives to blend in with their surroundings. Students will also develop their ability to collect necessary materials, select and choose the information they need, summarize it, and make a presentation.

Course method : We will deepen our learning on the following topics in the form of classroom lectures and practical (training)

 Yayoi Town Mochi Pounding Festival, Homestay, New Year's calligraphy
3. About Okayama Prefecture
4. About Our Town Tsuyama
 Relationship between Tsuyama and Western Studies, History of Tsuyama National College of Technology
5. Manners in Japan - about honorific language
6. Japanese for health
They will be asked to write a report on each topic in Japanese, which will be evaluated.
Grade evaluation method : Assignments (70%), presentation (20%), and attendance (10%) will determine the overall evaluation.
A score of 60 or more is considered a passing grade, and the student will not be required to retake the exam.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment : Students must take this class (no more than one-third of the required number of class hours missed) in order to complete the 1st year course.
Course advice : Students should study up to Lesson 30 of "Minna no Nihongo ShokyuⅡ(2nd Edition)" in advance and understand the contents of the study. There is a lot to learn, so students should prepare and review every day. We also want students to have an interest in the Japanese language and culture.
Foundational subjects : Japanese language courses taken in my home country and training to prepare for study abroad.

Attendance advice : Actively participate in class and submit all assignments on time. Try to look up vocabulary you don't understand. Make an effort to find out information about Japan outside of class time. The content of the class will change depending on the class.

Students will summarize what they have researched in Japanese and present their findings.
Each student will research the places of interest in Hiroshima, plan their own itinerary, and discuss their plans together.
