Course outline :
Students will study the Japanese language (honorific expressions, grammar, vocabulary, meaning of words, notation, and kanji) on their own, and test the results of their studies by taking The Japanese Language Examination.
Style:
Course method :
Under the guidance of the instructor, students will practice questions for The Japanese Language Examination on their own initiative.

Grade evaluation method :
Students who have passed Level 2 or higher of The Japanese Language Examination must notify the instructor in charge and apply for credit to the Educational Affairs Section by the last day of the final examination of the school year. The Educational Affairs Committee will deliberate on the credit approval and evaluate whether the student passed or failed.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment :
Students must submit an application for elective courses by the designated date. In addition, this course is a qualifying course, and students must apply for credit in order to receive credit. The number of credits approved by the Educational Records and Programs Committee for Elective subjects is limited to 4 credits for general subjects.

Course advice :
As a preparatory study, students should check their own level by looking at the official website of The Japanese Language Examination.
Students must take the examinations individually at the general venues (located in Okayama City and Kurashiki City in the prefecture).
The examination dates for FY2021 are June 12 (Sat.) for the first session and November 13 (Sat.) for the second session.

Attendance advice :
The Japanese Language Examination consists of a wide range of questions in the six areas of honorifics, grammar, vocabulary, meaning of words, notation, and kanji, and a well-balanced score in all areas is necessary to pass.
In order to pass the test, you will need to score well in all areas. Level 2 is at the level of working adults and university students, but it is difficult to pass on your own ability, so you will need to study for the test. Students should study in accordance with their own Japanese language ability and the date of the examination.
There are three types of results for The Japanese Language Examination: "Certified," "Level 1 Certified," and "Failed." "Passing Level 2 or higher," for which credits are awarded, is either "Level 2 Certified," "Level 1 Certified," or "Level 1 Certified" (excluding "Level 2 Certified").
It is also possible to take Level 2 and Level 3 at the same time.
