Course Objectives

Learning purposes :
To deepen understanding of Tsuyama by learning about the history and culture of the region.
To be actively involved in the local community and to think about the preservation, succession and development of local culture.

Course outline :
Students will deepen their understanding of the region and local culture through lectures on the history and culture of Tsuyama and Western learning, fieldwork and presentations of the results.
Style:
Course method :
In the first half, lectures on the history and culture of Tsuyama and Western Learning will be given. In the second half, visit the Tsuyama Archives of Western Learning, walk around the town, and present the results of the fieldwork to deepen a comprehensive understanding of the region and local culture.

Grade evaluation method :
Presentation (30%) + Portfolio (30%) + Report (40%).
No Regular Exams will be held.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment :
This is a class that requires study outside of class hours. A total of 45 hours of study is required per credit, including both class time and study outside class time. Follow the instructions of the instructor regarding study outside of class hours.

Course advice :
As a preparatory study, gather information on the history and culture of the Tsuyama area.
Visit historical sites, participate in festivals, taste local gourmet food, etc. Any method is acceptable.
Try to be actively involved in the local community and have opportunities to think about the local culture in daily life.

Attendance advice :
If you are late for class, you will be considered tardy for up to 20 minutes and absent for the rest of the class.
