Outline:
General or Specialized : General
Field of learning : Japanese language
Foundational academic disciplines : Humanities/Literature, linguistics
Relationship with Educational Objectives : This class is equivalent to "(5) Attain a global perspective and understanding of social development." "(7) Develop communication and presentation abilities."
Relationship with JABEE programs : The main goals of learning / education in this class are "(F), also "(B)" is involved.
Course outline : This is a Japanese language class for international students in their second year. By studying Japanese language at the mid-intermediate to advanced levels, students will refine their Japanese language skills to be able to engage in linguistic activities at the discourse level, rather than just interacting in a fixed pattern.
Style:
Course method : The class follows the textbook, but other supplementary materials (such as problem books and newspaper and Internet articles) are used as needed to consolidate students' knowledge and operational skills. Students will also have time to research the topic, summarize their ideas, present them, and exchange their opinions. Through repeated practice in output, students will also develop their presentation skills in Japanese, which will be needed in the future. We hope that students will make efforts to improve their Japanese language skills, but we also hope that they will take an interest in Japanese language and culture in their classes.
Grade evaluation method : The results of the first and second semester exams (80%), assignments (10%), and attendance (10%) will determine the overall evaluation.
A score of 60 or more is considered a passing grade, and the student will be required to retake the exam if necessary.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment : Students must take this class (no more than one-third of the required number of class hours missed) in order to complete the 2nd year course.
Course advice : Students should have reached JLPT N3 level in advance. Since there is a lot of learning content, students should review and prepare every day. We also want students to have an interest in the Japanese language and culture.
Foundational subjects : Japanese language Ⅰ(1st year), Japanese writing (1st year), Japanese conversation and listening Ⅰ (1st year), Japanese and Japanese culture (1st year)
Related subjects : Japanese conversation and listening Ⅱ (2nd year), Japanese language Ⅲ(3rd year)
Attendance advice : If students are late for the start of class, they will be counted as tardy for up to 20 minutes. After that, the student will be marked absent. Actively participate in class and submit assignments on time. Try to look up vocabulary you don't understand. Textbooks and course content may be changed depending on the status of students.
