Course Objectives

Learning purposes :
Expand horizons and enhance thinking through the interpretation and appreciation of various literary works.
Acquire an education in the Japanese language and Japanese literature, and deepen your understanding of Japanese culture.

Course Objectives :
1. To read a variety of works and literature, and develop the ability to think about things from multiple perspectives and to think flexibly.
2. To Increase knowledge of Japanese language and literature
3. To have opinions and ideas about Japanese culture and be able to explain them in one' s own words.

Course outline :
Read literary works and linguistic materials and give an overview of the Japanese language and Japanese literature of each period. Also, focus on the changes in language in these works and consider the aspects of Japanese culture that lie behind them.
Style:
Course method :
Reading of literary works and linguistic materials from each period, and lectures on the history of Japanese and Japanese literature. Assigned themes for each period and content, and assignments and reports.

Grade evaluation method :
Assignments (50%) + Report (50%).
No regular examination.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment :
This is a "class that requires study outside of class hours". Classes are offered for 15 hours per credit, but 30 credit hours are required in addition to this. Follow the instructions of your instructor for these studies.

Course advice :
Participate actively in the classes and make an effort to improve your ability to express yourself. You are expected to be exposed to a variety of texts and practice flexible thinking, and make an effort to increase your knowledge of Japanese language and literature.
