Course Objectives

Learning Purposes: Learn English vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and speaking and listening skills. Develop the ability to understand English sentences faster and more accurately. In addition, be able to write English compositions of about 250 words.

Course Objectives:
1. To acquire an attitude of trying to communicate in English.
2. To understand standard pronunciation, imitate sounds, and understand the relationship between spelling and sounds. Recognize sound changes caused by word-to-word liaison, and correct stress.
3. To understand basic sentences in technical English.
4. To be able to use proper grammar to write basic English compositions on technical subjects.
◎5. Can listen to the opinions of others in English, and can use effective explanation methods and means to convey opinions and facilitate smooth communication.

Course Outline: Learn English vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and speaking and listening skills. Read basic technical English texts. In addition, write compositions in English on a regular basis.
Style:
Course method: This course will be offered in the second semester. We perform learning activities with the aim of improving all four skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking).

Grade evaluation method: The results of two regular examinations are averaged and evaluated (50%). In addition to the results of the regular examination, grades will be assessed by the results of regular tasks, quizzes, presentations, etc. (50%).

Textbooks and notebooks are not allowed for the exam. Retest in some cases.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment: This is a "class that requires study outside of class hours". Classes are offered for 15 hours per credit, but 30 hours are required in addition to this.

Course advice: Participate actively in class, and submit assignments on time. Take notes, and review the lessons frequently. Quizzes will be held regularly, so be sure to participate. A dictionary is essential in this class. (If possible, an electronic dictionary is preferable.)

Attendance advice: Entering the room 20 minutes after the start of class will be treated as an absence.
