Course Objectives

Learning Objectives: To acquire an international mindset, tolerance for different cultures, and an attitude of interacting with people of different languages and people engaged in international exchange activities through activities in Japan and abroad.

Goals
◎Strive to understand different cultures through domestic and international activities, focusing on learning English and other foreign languages, and be able to interact with people of different languages and people engaged in international exchange activities on a daily basis.

Relationship to departmental learning objectives: This subject corresponds to the Department of Integrated Science and Engineering's learning and educational objectives: (4) Develop cross-disciplinary integration skills, (5) Cultivate a global perspective and social awareness, (6) Develop problem-seeking and problem-solving skills, and (7) Develop communication and presentation skills.
Class outline: Students participate in language training programs overseas accredited by the school and international exchange activities hosted by the school, and accumulate exchange practices in Japan and abroad. The language training programs accredited by the school are specifically "Canadian Language Training" and "New Zealand High School Experience (2W)", etc. The international exchange activities are "Global Leader Development School", "After School English" and "Student Ambassador Activities as designated by the school". Other activities may be added during the course of the academic year. In addition, students who plan their own international exchange activities and have them approved by their academic advisor are also eligible for this program.
Style:
Method of teaching: At the beginning of the academic year, the students will draw up an activity plan with advice from their academic advisor, submit an annual plan to their academic advisor, and carry out the plan. The activity plan should consist mainly of participation in international exchange activities organized by the school and should be at least 30 hours per year. Students who participate in overseas language training programs will be required to complete the required pre- and post-workshop training and necessary reports. Students may be required to submit reports before and after participating in each exchange activity.

Grading Methods:
Evaluation will be based on the annual plan, pre- and post-workshop reports, and the students' efforts during the overseas language training and exchange activities.

Note: This course is available to students in grades 1 through 4. Submit the Application for Elective Course Registration by the designated date.

Course Advice: Be proactive. When planning the course, students should carefully check the authorized hours for each activity and make sure that the total hours exceed 30 hours.

Foundation subjects: English, social studies, and Japanese up to junior high school. English, Social Studies, and Japanese subjects at the school.
Related subject: International Exchange II (2-5 years)

Advice for students: The purpose of this course is not only to earn credits but also to develop a mindset to play an active role in the international community. Please be proactive in this course.
