Course Objectives

The aim of this class is to enable students to recognize their responsibility as engineers towards society through the systematic study of the problems of contemporary philosophy.

Course outline : Education in ethics is a necessary culture for contemporary engineers and researchers in the field of engineering. This year, we will inquire further into the character of our technological society through the treatment of fundamental philosophical and ethical problems.
Style:
Course method : Classes will be held in the second semester. Teaching will be conducted mainly through discussion with students. Students will be expected to study outside of the classroom to prepare their coursework.
Grade evaluation method: One paper (50%) and one presentation or report on the contents of the course (50%). There will be no makeup exams.
Notice:
Precautions on the enrollment : This is a class that requires study outside of class hours. A total of 45 hours of study is required per credit, including both class time and study outside class time. Follow the instructions of the instructor regarding study outside of class hours.
Advice concerning enrollment: Since it will be obligatory to submit a paper, read newspapers etc. on a daily basis and form your own interests. Organize what you have learned and whatever questions you may have after each class to prepare for the next class.

Attendance advice : Although participation in itself will not be evaluated, students should attend at least 2/3 of the classes. Although students who repeatedly arrive late will not be considered absent for that reason, students who come excessively late will be considered absent.
