Course Objectives

Learning purposes :
By learning the Chinese language and Chinese affairs, students will deepen their understanding of China as a country with which Japan has a close relationship. To acquire the ability to discard cultural prejudices and contribute to international exchange.

2.To understand Chinese culture and society, to understand and tolerate the aspects that are different from those of Japan, and to have a spirit of cooperation and coexistence with them.

Course outline :
Learning Chinese using textbooks. In addition, lectures on Chinese culture and society will be given.

"Course method :
Learn intermediate level Chinese using textbooks. Mini test will be given every hour to ensure that the students have learned the material. Chinese culture and society will also be lectured on, so learners will research and present their own interests.

Grade evaluation method :
Regular exam (60%) + Presentation (20%) + Peer review (10%) + Mini test (10%)
For those whose grades are below 60 at the end of the semester and whose attendance and class attitude are good, a retest will be administered after giving advance instructions. The result of the reexamination shall be read as the result of the said regular examination with a maximum final grade of 60 points.

Precautions on the enrollment :
Based on "Environmental Science" studied in the fifth year of the program, this course is designed to cultivate a multifaceted perspective necessary for international exchange through the study of the Chinese language and Chinese affairs. This is a class that requires study outside of class hours. A total of 45 hours of study is required per credit, including both class time and study outside class time. Follow the instructions of the instructor regarding study outside of class hours.

Course advice :
Since this is an intermediate level Chinese course, it is recommended that students have taken a Theory of Cross-cultural Society Ⅰ・Ⅱ or have studied basic Chinese. Those who have not yet studied Chinese and wish to take the course should come to the person in charge for consultation during the first semester.
As a preparatory study, students should pay attention to the news about China and Taiwan.
The course is required for the bachelor's degree, so students should be well aware of this.
