This course is designed for engineering students who are learning English as a foreign language in a CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) setting to explore environmental issues and deepen their understanding of the content, making it useful for their own research in the engineering field. The purpose of this course is to improve students' practical language skills while learning the content of environmental issues. By cultivating critical thinking through the learning process, it will be possible to apply this knowledge to initiatives in their own field. In this class, students are required to use as much English as possible. By the end of this course, students are expected to reach a CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) B2 level of proficiency, which means they will become upper-intermediate language users, gaining the confidence to be global engineers in the future. 本授業は内容言語統語型学習の環境で，英語を外国語として学ぶ工学専攻の学生を対象にして環境問題の諸問題を探求し内容理解を深めることを目的とする。学習者には各ユニットに沿ったテーマを学ぶ過程で実践的な言語運用能力も向上してもらいたい。環境問題について学び考える過程でクリティカルな思考を育み，本授業で学習した知識を自分たちの専門分野で役立ててもらいたい。本クラスでは可能な限り英語を使用し，本コース終了時にはCEFR B2レベルの移行を目指し，将来グローバルエンジニアとして活躍する自信をつけてもらいたい。

概要:
The purpose of this course is to improve students' five language skills: listening, reading, writing, interacting with partners, and making presentations while learning the content of environmental issues. Students will learn about the practical things they can do to solve these problems. This course is not solely a passive lecture class, and students' active participation in thinking critically and discussing is essential to the progress of their language skills. To develop practical language proficiency, students will first listen to and read various topics for environmental issues, then cultivate output skills by engaging in writing, interacting with other learners, and practicing presentations based on the knowledge acquired through input learning. 本授業では環境に関する諸問題を学びながら同時に聞く・読む・書く・パートナーとやりとり・プレゼンテーションの5つの言語能力の向上も図る。実践力を身につけるために環境問題に関する様々なトピックに関してインプット学習で得た知識をもとに，ライティングやペアでのやりとり，プレゼンテーションなどを通して意見を人前で表現できる言語運用能力の向上も目指す。
授業の進め方・方法:
Input tasks in the listening and reading sections are conducted based on the textbook materials. In this process, students will internalize ample lexical phrases, and then they will move on to interact with other learners to discuss each issue to develop their output skills. In output tasks such as discussing, writing activities, and making presentations, practical language proficiency will be cultivated through the given opportunities to express their opinions and thoughts.
リスニングやリーディングのインプットではテキストに沿って学習し，インプット過程での十分な語彙知識習得，各テーマに関する現状を把握した上で，他者とのやりとりやライティング活動，プレゼンテーション等を通して自身の意見や考えを人前で表現することにも取り組む。
注意点:
・In this class, always bring a dictionary. Either a paper or an electronic dictionary is acceptable. (辞書は必ず持参） ・Some topics or class schedules may change in order to better meet students' proficiency or needs. ・Preparation and Review: In this course, students will be required to study out of class. Before class, make sure to study the vocabulary of each unit in advance. After class, allocate sufficient time to work on assigned tasks, including preparing writing assignments for your presentations. To enhance language acquisition, it is essential to dedicate ample time to listening and reading materials outside of class to improve your practical skills.予習では必ず各ユニットA&Bの語彙パートに取り組んでおくこと。復習ではプレゼンテーションのためのライティング課題はもちろんのこと授業外の時間にリスニングやリーディングのインプットに十分な時間を割くこと
