教育方法等

概要:

The aim of this course is to improve English vocabulary knowledge, comprehension and application through expression using various forms of English discourse, focusing on communicating in their fields of study. This will be achieved through extensive comprehensible input, (extensive reading and listening,) intensive reading, a variety of interactive classroom tasks, (pair work, group work, mini-tests, individual presentations) and through homework tasks (including extensive reading and listening, book reports and journal writing). Expression and comprehension of technical knowledge and development of critical thinking skills are important aspects of this course.

授業の進め方・方法:

Students will activate existing vocabulary and expand working vocabulary using vocabulary acquisition tools. Students will increase reading speed and comprehension through extensive reading. Students will expand critical thinking and communication skills through communicative tasks. Students will improve writing and public speaking skills through presentations.

注意点:

Students will be assessed through tests and exams [60%], classroom activities (participation and short presentations) and homework tasks (including 150,000 words of extensive reading and mastery of all WordEngine vocabulary) [40%] Assessment will carefully consider student achievement in regards to the aims of the course including comprehension and expression of technical knowledge.
