概要:

English reading and writing course

授業の進め方・方法:

Most class time will be devoted to independent reading and writing

注意点:

Require Basic command of English (TOEIC 300).
Student record books will be graded quarterly based on completion (25 points each time), Notebooks will also be collected quarterly with one essay chosen for grading (25 points each time).
Passing score: 60pts total.
Homework will involve writing a second draft of one essay per quarter.

		1週	Course and Syllabus Introduction	student should understand course syllabus and methods especially the SRA reading method
		2週	Take placement test/SQ3R	Find reading level, feel comfortable with SRA
		3週	independent reading/writing	read one power builder and write a paragraph about the reading
		4週	independent reading/writing	read one power builder and write a paragraph about the reading
		5週	independent reading/writing	read one power builder and write a paragraph about the reading
		6週	independent reading/writing	read one power builder and write a paragraph about the reading
		7週	check to make sure SRA books are filled in correctly and notebooks are properly marked	make sure progress charts in SRA are filled in and that students have chosen an essay to be graded. It should be rewritten (2nd draft) and included in the notebook.
		8週	Turn in SRA Books and Notebooks	evaluate student progress in both reading and writing

		9週	Return and discus SRA books and notebooks	Make sure students are using the SQ3R reading method and go over common writing errors, suggest higher reading levels for students.
