概要:
This course is focused on improving the students’ basic skills in different sports, confirming and improving their physical fitness. Another aim of this course is to develop an attitude that will help maintain wholesome interpersonal relationships by observing rules and regulations, paying due attention to safety, and exercising.
授業の進め方と授業内容・方法:
Course venue: Gymnasium No. 2 or the playground Where necessary, the course may also be conducted in the main ground or a classroom.
Course format: Implemented mainly through physical training, but with lectures and written examinations also being held each semester.
What students prepare: Their own (school-designated) sports kit, gym shoes and outdoor sports shoes
Main course content:
First Semester 1. Group Behavior: Students practice group behavior patterns, such as marching and forming a line. This also serves as preparation for the sports festival and radio exercises.
    2. Softball: Students acquire basic skills in throwing, catching, and batting.
They understand the rules and play basic games.
    3. Volleyball: Students acquire basic skills of overhand pass and underhand pass.
They understand the rules and play basic games.
    4. New physical fitness test: The four items measured in this test are grip, side-stepping, long-bench body anteflexion stretching, and sit-ups.
    5. Health theory: Body composition measurements and research. Students also learn about Body composition attend a written examination.

Second semester 1. New physical fitness test: 50-meter run, standing long jump, handball throwing, and long-distance running records are measured.
    2. Basketball: Students acquire basic skills in pass and dribble.
They understand the rules and play basic games.
    3. Soccer: Students acquire basic skills in pass and dribble.
They understand the rules and play basic games.
    4. Health theory: Students estimate their aerobic capacity based on the results of a 12-minute run.
They also learn about aerobic exercise attend a written examination.
注意点:
Evaluation method: Evaluated comprehensively based on practical skills examinations, physical fitness tests and a 12-minute run (70%), written examinations, reports, etc. (15%), and classroom attitude, etc. (15%). Pass mark is 60 or higher.
Self-learning guidelines: Students are expected to prepare for and review what they learn in class by learning the relevant skills and rules for each sport using the Illustrated Sports Rules (TAISHUKAN Publishing Co., Ltd.) to deepen their understanding. Additionally, learn the origins (history) and characteristics (pleasure) of each sport, so that you can enjoy (play, watch, and/or support) sports throughout your life.
Other points to note: The order of the course content and the teaching and evaluation methods may differ depending on the instructor, so you should check these matters in the guidance session held at the beginning of the course.
