Students are required
1. to read and explain english technical papers or manuals
2. to make a technical report based on understood contents
3 to write an extended abstract of their own research using appropriate English expression based on proper grammar.
4. to make slides of their own research based on acquired knowledge of slide making, and to make a slide presentation.
5. to acquire basic skills and knowledge about effective technical presentation.
6. to make a presentation about their own research.
7. to make a presentation about their own research in English outside campus or to take an Englsih proficiency test and get a designated degree or score to prove that they have obtained a certain level of English communication competence.

教育方法等

概要:
国際化の動きの中で,技術者にとって英語による情報の収集や伝達など国際的に通用するコミュニケ-ション能力を身に付けることがますます重要になっている.前半では,それぞれの専門分野における英語文献等を題材として,読解力や表現力など技術英語の基礎力を養成する.
Based on skills and knowledge acquired through English subjects so far, classes are basically about communication in English to develop basic skills required for international communication for "global" engineers.
授業の進め方・方法:
前半は各学生の特別研究に関連した専門分野の英語文献等の講読を演習課題とし,自主的な学習への取り組みによって,科学技術英語の読解力の向上を図る.
Classes are basically carried out through the trainings about making English abstracts and slides to explain students' ideas of their own research, about presentation to tell contents and students' ideas of their research. Students are required to take English proficiency tests or make a presentation outside campus to prove their English communication competence.
注意点:
技術英語は特殊な英語ではなく,慣用スタイルや基本的な技術用語に慣れれば一般的な英語と大きく異なるものではない.英語力を身につけるにはそれなりの時間をかけることが必要であり,毎日少しずつ自学自習する習慣付けを心がけたい.
All students are required to complete all the activites required and get a certain score or degree of English proficiency test or make a presentation outside campus. Any question or comment is always welcome either in person or via email. Students are encouraged to make an appointment before directly visiting professor's office.

(事前学習)
授業計画の授業内容および到達目標を確認の上,提示されたテキストに目を通しておくこと。また、指定された範囲のe-learning教材の学習を行うこと。
(事後学習)
要点をノートに整理してまとめ、提示された演習問題に取り組むこと。また英語論文の表現を参考にして自分の研究内容を英語で説明する練習を行うこと。
