Course Objectives

Acquire skills by studying classical calligraphy, and pursue the beauty of various forms of calligraphy to recognize the difference between "calligraphy" and "calligraphy.
Through the creation of creative works, students will learn to face themselves and develop a spirit of honest expression.

Teaching Method

Outline:
Learning objectives (Aims of the class)
Acquire skills in calligraphy of the classics. To teach students to understand the principle of the brush (that the quality of the line changes depending on the angle). The students will be guided to choose words and phrases that they can express themselves honestly. To teach them to express themselves in a way that is more appropriate to the words based on their rinsho.

Classic block style and its calligraphic style... The characteristics and brush strokes of 『孔子廟堂碑』 will be explained with a model.
Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of the Confucius Temple Monument "Tianhe".
2nd The classic block style and its style... The characteristics and brush strokes of『九成宮醴泉銘』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of "Landscape" of Gucheng Palace.
3rd The classic block style and its style... The characteristics and brush strokes of『雁塔聖教序』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of "Formless," an introduction to the sacred teachings of the Wild Goose Pagoda.
4th The classic block style and its style... The characteristics and brush strokes of『自書告身』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand the characteristics of the "System" and write their own calligraphy.
5th The classic block style and its style... The characteristics and brush strokes of『牛橛造像記』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to grasp the characteristics of the Gyoshitsuki Zouzouki and write it in Japanese.
6th The classics of line calligraphy and their styles... The characteristics and strokes of 『蘭亭序』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to grasp the characteristics of the Preface to Lanting and write the Preface in Japanese.
7th The classics of line calligraphy and their styles... The characteristics and strokes of 『蘭亭序』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of the Lanting Preface "Tian Lang Chi Ching".
8th The classics of line calligraphy and their styles... The characteristics and strokes of 『争坐位文稿』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to grasp the characteristics of the "Kaigoku" manuscript and write it in Japanese.

9th The classics of line calligraphy and their styles... The characteristics and strokes of『風信帖』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of Fushincho "Fuun".
10th The classics of line calligraphy and their styles... The characteristics and strokes of『風信帖』 will be explained with examples. Students will be able to understand and write the characteristics of Fushincho's "Emyo".
11th Calligraphy in a mixture of kanji and kana. Have the student write a line from a poem or song. Students can express themselves in ways that match the content of the poem or song.
12th Colored paper works. Have the students look up the kanji of the word they have chosen in a dictionary, compose it, and write their own expression. Students can choose a word or phrase that expresses their current thoughts. They can pull out the letters from the dictionary and try to construct their own.
13th Colored paper works. The teacher advises them and makes them write. Students can use structure, strength, rhythm, and other devices to express themselves in a way that fits the words. Students can make use of the teacher's advice.
14th Students complete their work by writing and stamping on colored paper. Completion of the work on colored paper (write it out and decide where to mark it)
15th Have a viewing party for the completed colored paper works. Have students write about their intentions for creating the work and their impressions of other students' work. Students should be able to describe the words of their own work, their reasons for choosing them, their thoughts, and their creation. What do you feel about other people's work?
