到達目標

This course will cover all aspects of the English language, and emphasize listening and speaking. The standardized TOEIC Bridge test is also an important part of the course, in which students will be able to measure their abilities on a global standardized test. It is important to review before every class and do homework to remember each topic to increase English abilities.

教育方法等

概要:
Each lesson will follow one unit of the textbook in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation activities. Every class will start with a show & tell activity, singing the song of the month, and English conversations in pairs or groups. Make sure you try your best to speak English without being afraid of making mistakes. If you don’t understand, do not be shy to ask questions.
授業の進め方・方法:
80 to 90 minute lessons with a short, 2-3 minute break in between to check homework. It may not be possible to cover entire lesson content in one lesson so it is crucial for students to go over material not covered in class by themselves. Do not hesitate to ask for questions in or out of class.
注意点:
Take notes and keep handouts in a separate notebook. Make sure to participate actively in class, as misbehavior can lead to a deduction of up to 10 points of your final mark. Reviewing before and after every class is essential to prepare for the next lesson and tests. Bring a dictionary with you to class. Late assignments will receive 0. NO RE-TESTS.

評価

3 midterm tests (every two ABC units) at 10% each, as well as the TOEIC Bridge IP test in late January at 10% (also included in English IA's evaluation) for a total of FOUR tests.
Pop Quizzes will happen randomly at the beginning of any class to verify if students are reviewing their homework and studies up to 10 times in a year, with some occasions of having two of these short tests happening at once as well.
A book report will be assigned for summer vacation (10% of final mark) that will also be included in the Oxford Publishing The Big Read annual contest with prior approval from students their parent/guardians.
Homework (approximately 5% each term for a total of 15%) includes the workbook at the end of the student book, as well as any additional online writing assignments, LMS-based reviews and checks, and vocabulary sheets as well.
The final presentation is one quarter of the final mark and will be done in groups in lieu of a final exam. Evaluation will also be done in groups and only individually within if deemed necessary by the evaluating professor.
