Course Objectives
Students will learn not only how to read a story, but also basic theatrical knowledge such as stage sets, lighting, costumes, music, props, and physical effects of actors. They will also learn about Japanese culture through exposure to various theatrical genres, and learn about the relationship between art and the times and society in which we live. In addition, students will acquire the skills to write and discuss their own thoughts, analysis, and research on the works.

Teaching Method
Outline:
In this lecture, we will mainly study theater (performing arts). We will learn about the characteristics of theater, deepen our basic knowledge, and read and watch plays. In doing so, we will also consider the relationship between theater and the society that surrounds it, providing an opportunity to think about the society in which we live. In addition, students will develop the skills to write and discuss their own thoughts on the works.
Style:
The first lecture will be on basic knowledge of theater (performing arts). After that, we will watch some plays and write a report on them. By sharing their reports, students will be able to deepen their understanding of the plays and their works while understanding that there are many different ways of thinking. In addition to acquiring basic knowledge of theater, students will also learn about the historical background of the plays.
